Free screenshot alpha channel remover

A screenshot can look opaque and still contain an alpha channel. Preview a solid background and download a verified opaque copy, free in your browser.

Preview an opaque copy

Free, no account. One file at a time, up to 20 MB and 32 megapixels. All image processing stays in this browser. Your original file is unchanged.

Color appearance can change when converting color profiles. Review the downloaded file. Check all requirements in the screenshot size checker.

Remove alpha, including from opaque-looking PNGs

Choose a PNG and a background color. Transparent areas will be replaced by that color in the downloaded copy. RGB PNG output is encoded without an alpha channel, and every output is inspected before the download appears.

How to use this tool

  1. Select a screenshot from your device. Corrupt, animated or oversized files are rejected.
  2. Choose the opaque background and inspect the preview, especially transparent edges.
  3. Confirm the preview and create an RGB PNG or JPEG download.
  4. Open the downloaded file and run it through the screenshot size checker for the selected store slot.

What this tool does not check

It does not certify app content, required screenshot counts, complete device coverage or store approval. Color appearance can change when converting image profiles. Keep your original and review the result. Alpha removal preserves the original pixel dimensions; a file can still have the wrong size.

Use Apple's screenshot specifications as the primary source for accepted upload slots. The screenshot troubleshooting guide explains common file issues.

Frequently asked questions

Is this free without an account?

Yes. This file utility runs locally and requires no signup. Creating and saving an editable Skir project is a separate workflow with a free account.

Does it upload or replace my original?

No. Files are processed in your browser and the download is a new copy. Your original is unchanged.

Does a verified download guarantee approval?

No. Verification checks output dimensions, format and absence of alpha. You still need to check app content, visual appearance and store requirements.

Why did my opaque-looking PNG contain alpha?

Some image editors store an alpha channel even when all pixels are opaque. This tool produces an RGB PNG without that channel, or an opaque JPEG.

Need to change the design too?

Choose an editable screenshot template, replace the app capture and adjust the headline and layout. Skir Free includes one app and the first three exports per set, with no watermark. Additional exports require paid access.
