App Store screenshot sizes and export requirements
Find accepted iPhone and iPad screenshot dimensions, portrait and landscape sizes, image formats and alpha-channel checks, with Apple's official source.
Choose an accepted size for the device class you are uploading to. A decorative phone frame inside your design does not determine the image’s upload slot: the final exported pixel width and height do.
For the current 6.9-inch iPhone slot, portrait options are 1260 × 2736, 1290 × 2796 and 1320 × 2868 pixels. The landscape versions reverse those dimensions. For iPad, the 13-inch slot accepts 2064 × 2752 or 2048 × 2732 portrait, and their landscape versions.

Accepted iPhone and iPad dimensions
The table includes current and legacy slots. Dimensions are width × height in pixels; both portrait and landscape are listed explicitly. Legacy screenshots without a status bar have different dimensions, so do not simply rotate their portrait numbers.

Format, alpha and screenshot count
Apple accepts JPEG (.jpg or .jpeg) and PNG files, and permits one to ten screenshots. Its specification excludes alpha channels and transparency. A PNG can look opaque while retaining an alpha channel; flatten the image and export without alpha, or use JPEG.
A complete iPhone set does not automatically cover iPad. If the app runs on iPad, supply the required iPad screenshots. Where Apple permits scaled fallbacks, review how they look in App Store Connect instead of assuming that scaling preserves small text.
Choose the canvas before placing the device frame
- Identify which device classes your app supports and which slot you intend to fill.
- Set the output canvas to an accepted width and height. Keep the source app interface proportional.
- Position your screen, headline and background within that canvas. Inspect the smallest text at realistic listing size.
- Export, then measure the exported file. The design document’s dimensions alone do not prove the output’s dimensions.
If the file is still rejected
Check the selected device slot, exact pixel dimensions, actual file format and alpha channel. A change to DPI metadata does not change the pixel dimensions. Use the screenshot size error decision tree and the release checklist.
