Quick answer

What size and format is a Google Play feature graphic?

A Google Play feature graphic is a 1024 × 500 pixel landscape image in JPEG or 24-bit RGB PNG without an alpha channel. It is a separate promotional asset from phone screenshots. Export at that exact size and review it in Play Console's feature graphic field, including any crop or preview-video overlay.

A separate asset from screenshots

The feature graphic accompanies promotional placements and can act as the background for a preview video’s play button. It does not replace the screenshots showing your app’s actual interface. Do not upload a 1024 × 500 feature graphic into a phone screenshot slot and assume the rules are interchangeable. If you are choosing between stills and motion, read the screenshot and preview-video guide before planning a separate video asset.

Prepare and inspect the file

  1. Create a 1024 × 500 landscape canvas.
  2. Use your own app’s visual identity and keep essential text and artwork readable.
  3. Export RGB PNG without alpha or JPEG. A transparent-looking or opaque RGBA PNG needs conversion.
  4. Select “Feature graphic” in the checker and inspect the exported file.
  5. Upload it in the feature graphic field of Play Console and review its crop and video overlay.

The checker validates this graphic’s dimensions and format. It does not create the graphic, assess branding or guarantee a promotional placement. Skir’s screenshot canvas support should not be read as a feature graphic generation promise.
