Find and fix screenshot headline overflow
Use a practical review sequence to find clipped headlines, awkward line breaks and overlapping labels before exporting store screenshots.
Overflow happens when the text needs more room than the design gives it. It can appear after a copy change, font change, canvas resize or translation. A headline that looked balanced in the original template may become clipped, overlap the phone frame or leave one word stranded on a new line.
Review the exported image, not just the text field
- Open the affected board and select its headline through Layers.
- Check the complete value in the Text field. Confirm there is no accidental newline or pasted whitespace.
- Inspect the board at a readable zoom. Look at the last line and the gap before the next design element.
- Export that eligible board and view the image at actual size. The saved bitmap is the file visitors will see.
Fix the message before shrinking everything
Start by removing words that do not change the meaning. For a fictional task app, “Organize all of your important daily tasks in one convenient place” can become “One clear view of today.” Use this only if the screen actually shows the relevant tasks.
If the shorter line still collides with another element, give its box more vertical space or move the neighboring element. Keep the intended visual hierarchy. Reducing every font size until the copy fits can make the whole set difficult to read.
Keep line breaks intentional
Read each line aloud. Avoid separating a short preposition from the phrase it introduces or leaving an isolated final word. A deliberate break such as “Small steps. / Visible progress.” works because each line carries a complete thought. Review the same wording again after changing the canvas width.
Check every language separately
Translated copy can be longer, shorter or flow in a different direction. Do not assume one English layout validates every locale. Review each exported language with a fluent reader, including punctuation, mixed numbers and brand names. Skir’s visual editing controls do not replace that language review.
Use a repeatable approval sheet
- Board and locale: identify the exact exported file.
- Complete text: no missing letters or clipped descenders.
- Line breaks: readable phrases, with consistent spacing.
- Neighbors: no overlap with device frames, labels or badges.
- Small preview: the main benefit remains readable.
- Reviewer and date: record who checked the final file.
Skir does not certify native-language accuracy or automatically approve a layout as overflow-free. This is a manual review workflow. Keep a rejected export beside the corrected version when documenting a fix.
For the content itself, use the screenshot copy worksheet.
